Summer cleanup at Tigertail Beach nets 49 pounds of trash, recyclables, other materials

Though the summer months are quiet on Marco Island, dedicated volunteers participated July 5 in the summer quarterly Tigertail Beach cleanup held by Friends of Tigertail.

Sprucing up the area after the July 4 holiday, volunteers collected 20 pounds of trash, three pounds of recyclables, 26 pounds of construction materials and an old tire from the beach and parking.

Maria Christina Javier from the Health Department brought information supporting smoke free policies for all Collier County parks and beaches.

The next scheduled beach event is Saturday, Sept. 20, part of the International Coastal Cleanup, when beach and river areas worldwide are cleaned.

More information can be found on the Friends of Tigertail Facebook page or their website, FriendsofTigertail.com.
