Strong thunderstorms reported in Flagler. Major wind gusts possible

Flagler County residents should expect severe weather through at least 4:15 p.m., including the possibility of damaging winds.

At 3:44 p.m., a strong thunderstorm was “nearly stationary” about 10 miles west of Ormond-by-the-Sea, according to the National Weather Service Jacksonville. It’s expected to impact southeastern Flagler County.

“Wind gusts around 40 mph and minor flooding due to heavy rainfall” is possible,” according to the National Weather Service.

Residents could also see trees limbs knocked down from wind gusts and minor flooding.

“If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building,” according to the special weather statement. “Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.”
