An Alabama woman was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for helping her son gun down a woman in a Pensacola Home Depot.
Following a two-day jury trial, Sheila Agee was convicted Aug. 6 of principal to first-degree premeditated murder in the 2023 shooting death of Brooklyn Sims. Agee was immediately sentenced to life in prison.
Agee’s son, Keith Agee, was previously convicted of Sims’ murder after he went to a store where she performing contracted inventory services during and fatally shot her during daylight business hours.
Keith, Sims’ ex-boyfriend, said he killed her because believed he had contracted a sexually transmitted disease from her, an allegation that was later disporved in court. Text messages show Agee encouraged her son to kill Sims and texted him information on Sims’ whereabouts shortly before the murder.
Agee was previously tried for Sims’ murder in 2024, however the proceedings ended in a mistrial after one jury member’s conduct made other jurors feel unsafe, and because another jury member was playing a crossword puzzle during testimony and deliberation.
Keith Agee is serving life in prison for the murder.
