Shake Shack opening 2 new Florida locations in August, here's where

Shake Shack is having a busy August with 11 new locations opening across the country, including two in Florida. Four locations opened the same day, Aug. 12, in California, Colorado, Texas, and Virginia.

One new Florida Shake Shack will be opening its doors on Tuesday, Aug. 18, on Dr. Phillips Blvd. in Orlando, according to an emailed release. It will be the burger chain’s 10th in the Orlando area, spokesperson Reed Ounjian said in an email.

The first diners on opening day will score custom Shake Shack tote bags, and $1 for every sandwich sold will go to the Second Harvest Food Bank, benefitting Central Florida.

Order Shake Shack through DoorDash

“Guests can enjoy all the Shake Shack favorites — from the ShackBurger and Crinkle Cut fries to hand-spun shakes and limited-time menu items throughout the year, including the recently launched West Coast Menu,” the release said.

Just over a week later, another location will open in Doral, the seventh in the Miami area, Ounjian said

More locations are planned this month in Atlanta, Georgia; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Tucson, Arizona. Shake Shack already opened new restaurants in Elk Grove, California, on Aug. 5, and another in Albany, New York, on Aug. 6. The goal is to operate at least 1,500 restaurants in total, the company said.

The company that started as a hot dog stand is known for its 100% Angus beef burgers, crinkle fries and milkshakes, including flavors such as Dubai Chocolate Pistachio Shake and the Biscoff Cookie Butter Tiramisu Shake. Customers can also order their chicken breasts and beef patties wrapped in lettuce to cut back on the bread.

Where is the new Shake Shack opening?

The Orlando location will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 7800 Dr Phillips Blvd, Suite 300. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. daily.

The Doral location will open on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 10800 NW 41st Street, #201.

Do non-tippers get charged more at Shake Shack?

The Shack has gone viral recently, but not for a good reason. In an Aug. 8 TikTok post, B.D. Powell and his wife ordered three “Classic Shakes” at a self-pay kiosk at Salt Lake City International Airport and intentionally opted not to tip to see what would happen.

“Everything just went up 50 cents. Every item went up by 50 cents. Just making sure everybody knows. Do not go there,” Powell said in the video.

Shake Shack reportedly thanked the couple for bringing it to their attention, the New York Post reported, and the chain told USA TODAY in a statement that it does not increase prices or add surcharge penalties to orders placed by customers who choose not to tip. Shake Shack later posted a release saying that the licensee determined it was an error in the kiosk technology.

“It is not Shake Shack policy, nor that of our licensees, to increase the price of menu items when no tip is added,” the chain said.

Shake Shack’s mission: ‘Stand for something good’

Shake Shack started as a hot dog cart in New York City’s Madison Square Park with a mission of raising funds for a public art project.

As it grew into a national chain, the mission to “Stand For Something Good expanded to include sourcing premium ingredients from partners with the same dedication to quality and supporting our communities through donations, events, and volunteering.”
