Ready for the weekend? Check out these fun things to do in Daytona Beach, surrounding area

Biketoberfest has finally arrived in Daytona Beach, so there will be plenty of concerts, motorcycle shows and other diversions happening daily through Sunday, Oct. 19, for those willing to venture into the crowds.

The more streamlined offspring of the mammoth spring Bike Week motorcycle gathering, the four-day event will unfold Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 16-19. Now in its 33rd year, it typically draws an estimated crowd of 100,000 motorcycle riders and fans.

A full list of Biketoberfest’s many activities is available at biketoberfest.org, but here are a few daily highlights:

Races at Daytona International Speedway: Motorcycle riders take to the legendary road course at the Speedway for four days of racing throughout Biketoberfest at the American SportBike Racing Association (ASRA) and Championship Cup Series (CCS). Only infield admission is available. Daily tickets and multiple-day passes range from $22.50-$67.50 at DaytonaInternationalSpeedway.com.

Taste of Ormond offers culinary delights

It’s a big weekend for foodies, who will want to indulge in the 12th annual Taste of Ormond event from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19 at picturesque Rockefeller Gardens, along the banks of the Halifax River.

Attendees are invited to sip and sample their way through an exclusive showcase of the area’s best restaurants, craft beers and wines.

Proceeds from the annual fundraising event got to Ormond MainStreet, a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the city’s historic downtown district.

In addition to fire dancers, live music and a charity raffle, this year’s Hawaiian luau-themed event will feature a craft beer and wine tasting area, alongside culinary creations from two dozen local restaurants and caterers.

Admission options to the benefit event include single tickets for $100; single ticket VIP entry for $125; table for up to 10 people for $900; VIP table for up to 10 people for $1,150.

For $25 per person, guests can learn new tips, tricks and secrets from some of the area’s best bartenders as they craft a lineup of three sip-worthy signature drinks to enjoy during the mixology experience. Tickets for that experience are limited.

Riverfront Market shines on Beach Street in Daytona Beach

It’s time again for another edition of the popular Riverfront Market at the scenic Riverfront Esplanade, along Beach Street on the shores of the Halifax River.

The recurring event showcases the products of local farmers, artisans and small business entrepreneurs, a list that ranges from fresh produce to handmade goods and other finds.

It unfolds from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, along the Esplanade at 179 S. Beach St. in downtown Daytona Beach.

Free yoga, hosted by Renew Yoga Studio, is also offered before the market at 9 a.m. in the rose garden at 255 S. Beach St. Be sure to bring a yoga mat and water.

Produce, art, crafts power DeLand’s Artisan Alley Farmers Market

Here’s an opportunity to mix strolling and shopping at the weekly Friday Night Artisan Alley Farmers Market, a fixture in the charming outdoor plaza that stretches from Georgia to New York Avenues just west of Woodland Boulevard in downtown DeLand.

There will be an array of vendors offering everything from locally grown produce, plants, pickles, honey and baked goods, as well as arts and crafts. There’s also music provided by local performers.

In Flagler, Hidden Trails Halloween Fest offers all-ages fun

Is it too early to start celebrating Halloween?

Not in Flagler County, where the Hidden Trails Halloween Fest will conjure the spirit of the season on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Hidden Trails Community Center in Bunnell.

There will be food, drinks, inflatables, carnival games, kids costume contest and a DJ, among other diversions. It runs from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Community Center, 6108 Mahogany Blvd., Bunnell. Free admission.
