The 2026 ACC football season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in conference history, with nine-game conference schedules, international openers, and renewed title contenders from the Atlantic coast.
Uniforms are one of college football’s most passionate debates. They fuel recruiting conversations, ignite social media arguments, and define the visual identity of entire programs for decades. With several ACC schools debuting new looks in 2025 that will carry into 2026, there’s never been a better time to size up the conference’s best uniforms from worst to first.
Here is our ranking of every ACC football team’s best uniform combination heading into the 2026 season.
17. California Golden Bears
Best Uniform: Berkeley Blues
Cal brought its Pac-12 sensibility into a second ACC season, and the uniforms still feel like they belong somewhere else. The Golden Bears’ navy and gold combination is perfectly respectable, but nothing about it commands attention in a conference that has raised the style bar considerably.

Best Uniform: Cardinal Home
Stanford’s cardinal red and white have always been more prep school than powerhouse, and the 2025 version did nothing to change that assessment. The Cardinal wore a throwback helmet for their homecoming game, which added some welcome character. However, when your best look of the season requires a throwback gimmick, it’s a sign the core identity needs investment.
15. Syracuse Orange
Best Uniform: Orange Out
The all-orange combination is the most purely Syracuse look in the program’s wardrobe: orange helmet, orange jersey, orange pants, no apologies. Head coach Fran Brown had previously said an alternate look like the all-orange had to be earned, treating it as a reward for winning rather than a routine rotation piece, which only adds to its appeal when it does appear.
14. Pittsburgh Panthers
Best Uniform: Business Attire
The Pitt Panthers wore their classic away combination against Stanford — gold helmet, white jersey, and gold pants with the blue cathedral stripe — in what the program itself calls Business Attire. When the Panthers look like this, they look like Pitt — and that is the highest compliment a uniform can receive.
13. Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Best Uniform: Black and White
Wake Forest wore black helmets with white jerseys and black pants for their November home game against Florida State, and it was the Demon Deacons’ best look of the season — dark, composed, and just different enough to catch your eye. The old gold trim against the black base is genuinely sharp.
12. Duke Blue Devils
Best Uniform: Royal Blue Home
Duke’s royal blue and white set is understated in the best way when the Blue Devils wear it right. The interlocking “D” on the helmet is one of the cleaner logos in the conference, and the full home blue combination has a quiet dignity to it.
11. Virginia Cavaliers
Best Uniform: 95 Throwback
Virginia unveiled throwback uniforms honoring the 1995 team that beat Florida State 30 years prior, debuting the all-navy combination for the home game against the Seminoles. The navy-on-navy look with white pants is a sharp, cohesive set, and the historical context gave it weight beyond the aesthetics.
10. Virginia Tech Hokies
Best Uniform: Maroon Out
Virginia Tech wore all-maroon on multiple occasions in 2025, and it remains the program’s most electrically charged visual. Chicago Maroon is one of college football’s most distinctive colors, and there is no other team in the country that looks like Virginia Tech in a full maroon uniform, and that uniqueness is the entire appeal.
9. SMU Mustangs
Best Uniform: Dallas Blue
SMU brought Dallas flair to the ACC in 2025, and the Dallas-blue home look is their signature combination — bold, clean, and distinctly Mustang. The program’s blue and red is one of the more underappreciated color combinations in the conference, and when they commit to the full blue monochrome with the red pony logo on the white helmet, it’s one of the better home looks in the ACC.
8. North Carolina Tar Heels
Best Uniform: 1980 Throwback
The Tar Heels went retro for a Halloween matchup against ACC rival Syracuse, wearing throwbacks celebrating the 1980 team that finished 11-1 and won the ACC Championship, led by Lawrence Taylor. Head coach Bill Belichick specifically requested the throwback design, and the result is the best thing to happen to UNC’s uniform program in decades.
7. NC State Wolfpack
Best Uniform: City of Oaks
NC State’s City of Oaks alternate uniform features “NC State” in script lettering across the chest with a tiny acorn at the end — a nod to Raleigh’s nickname as the City of Oaks. The look also brings back shoulder stripes for the first time since 2022 and marks the first time in the adidas era that NC State has featured a traditional stripe on the shoulder pads for an alternate jersey, with a white helmet sporting “NC State” in red script with a stripe down the middle.

Best Uniform: Red Bandanna
Boston College’s Red Bandanna alternate uniforms honor former lacrosse player and Sept. 11 hero Welles Crowther, featuring a bandanna pattern on the sleeve caps, and represent one of the most emotionally resonant uniform designs in all of college football.
5. Louisville Cardinals
Best Uniform: Heritage Red
The Cardinals debuted new home and road uniforms in 2025, drawn from head coach Jeff Brohm’s time as a player at Louisville in the early 1990s, featuring a striping pattern similar to the modified sleeves he wore and a sublimated fleur-de-lis pattern nodding to the city’s French heritage. The result is the best Louisville uniform in a generation. The Heritage Red home set is clean, layered with meaning, and presents one of the most complete home uniform packages in the conference.
4. Georgia Tech Yellow-Jackets
Best Uniform: Dark Gray
Georgia Tech unveiled its first full uniform revamp since 2022, heading into 2025, introducing white, Tech gold, and dark gray sets featuring adidas’ Adizero X design with metallic Tech gold material in the numbers and stripes. The dark gray alternate, with metallic gold numbers on a dark base, was a revelation. The 2025 revamp gave the Yellow Jackets the uniform identity they’ve deserved for years.
3. Miami Hurricanes
Best Uniform: Orange Classic
Miami’s signature look is a uniform that defined an era of college football. The Hurricanes’ best combination still carries the visual weight of their 1980s and ’90s dynasty, and no amount of black alternates or camouflage has ever come close to matching it. When Miami wears this look, they are telling the rest of college football exactly who they are and where they come from.
2. Clemson Tigers
The Tigers broke out the orange pants for their road win at Boston College, pairing them with traditional road orange helmets and white jerseys. The tradition dates to 1980, when coach Danny Ford introduced them, and over the decades, they’ve become symbolic of championship-level moments and rivalry showdowns. Whether worn for a trophy game or a title chase, the white-over-orange road combination with the iconic paw helmet is one of the most recognizable in all of college football.
1. Florida State Seminoles
Best Uniform: Ice White
FSU wore multiple combinations throughout the 2025 season, but the Seminoles maintained a rotation of ten distinct combinations under head coach Mike Norvell, including all-garnet, all-white, and the traditional home garnet-gold combination. None of them hit harder than the Ice White. The white helmet with the red spear arrow flanked by garnet and gold trim is the most striking helmet design in the ACC. It is the best uniform in the conference — and it isn’t close. FSU’s uniform room has no bad days.
