Recently, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to increase entrance fees for international tourists who visit our national parks.
It’s really astounding to see all the ways that our president is finding to keep people out – and to lose our standing in the world.
Increasing national park fees for international visitors? Really?
Our national parks are a glorious part of our country and should be shared globally – not to mention the fact that international visitors spend money in America during their vacations.
Asking them to pay a higher fee is not conducive to attracting them here.
Authoritarians often work to isolate the country in which they seek to control.
It brings to mind this quote by Sathya Sai Baba, who was a renowned Indian guru and philanthropist:
Small minds,” he noted, “select narrow roads. Expand your mental vision and take to the broad road of helpfulness, compassion and service.”
