The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) says it will hold a hybrid public meeting concerning the U.S. 98 shared-use trail project in Franklin and Wakulla counties.
That meeting is Thursday, Aug. 20, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. (Eastern time). Those interested may watch the meeting at www.nwflroads.com/projects/437090-8 or attend in-person at the Panacea Community Center, 115 Otter Lake Road, Panacea. Pre-registration is required for the virtual format and encouraged for in-person attendees. The same materials will be presented for each format.
According to a press release, “The intent of this project is to construct a shared-use trail along the east side of U.S. 98 from Alligator Drive to Surf Road/Mashes Sands Road. No additional right of way is required. Bids for construction are scheduled to occur mid-2028. Maps, drawings, and other information are available for review online beginning at 12 p.m. (EDT), Thursday, July 30, 2026, at www.nwflroads.com/projects/437090-8.
“Project materials may also be viewed by contacting Jimmy Smith, P.E., Project Manager, at (850) 372-4126, via email at jsmith@ceteris.org, or by mail at 2902 Madison Street, Marianna, FL 32446. Maps, drawings, and other information will be on display at the in-person public meeting. Representatives will be available to discuss proposed improvements, answer questions, and receive comments.”
