The FSU Seminoles landed a commitment from transfer pitcher Cade O’Leary on Wednesday morning. The righty saw limited action in his freshman season with the Mississippi State Bulldogs, but was a top prospect coming out of high school.
O’Leary, a 6-foot-4, 190-pounder, pitched two innings over two appearances, allowing two unearned runs on two hits and a wild pitch. He recorded five strikeouts and did not issue a walk.
Perfect Game ranked him as the No. 131 overall player and No. 37 right-handed pitcher. The Knoxville, Tennessee, product was also the No. 3 player out of Tennessee and was Mississippi State’s highest-rated commit to make it to campus. He would have been FSU’s third-highest rated commit in their class, behind only Hunter Carns and Myles Bailey.
He had an extremely successful career at Farragut High School, helping them win three straight state championships from 2022-24. He went 7-0 as a senior with a 2.20 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 32 innings of work.
O’Leary is he fifth transfer FSU has landed and the fourth pitcher. He joins left-handed pitchers Trey Beard and Kevin Mebil, right-handed pitcher Charlie Christensen, and infielder Eli Putnam.
