A plane crashed late April 18 in the John C. and Mariana Jones/Hungryland Wildlife and Environmental Area, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
Martin County firefighters responded at 9:48 p.m. to an emergency landing near Southwest Pratt Whitney Road.

The plane apparently stopped working, and the pilot, who was the only person onboard, ejected the aircraft and survived. The pilot was taken to a hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.
Aviation authorities were notified, sheriff’s officials said.
No other information was available mid-day April 19.
