PANAMA CITY — Patrick Chapin has submitted his resignation as president and CEO of the Bay County Chamber of Commerce effective Sept. 26, according to a letter sent by chamber Chairman Shane Boyett.
According to the letter, Chapin has accepted the position of CEO at Camp Boggy Creek, a year-round residential camp founded by Paul Newman and Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf that serves children with serious illnesses and their families.
According to the camp website, the camp, located in Eustis near Orlando, “offers a free, medically safe, and unique experience for children with serious illnesses to experience joy and happiness in a camp setting. Part of our mission is to provide campers with inclusive activities that foster a creative and fun atmosphere, and through these activities, we encourage independence and choice.”
The chamber’s executive committee will now search for a new chamber leader, according to Boyett’s letter.
“Please join me in congratulating Patrick on his once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and thank him for his leadership over the past 18 months,” Boyett wrote.
