If you said Stitch, chances are you already know it’s National Stitch Day, also known as 626 Day.
Sometimes called “Lilo & Stitch Day,” this event is celebrated on June 26. In case you don’t remember your Disney trivia, Stitch was originally referred to as Experiment 626.
What is National Stitch Day?
National Stitch Day evolved after the release of Disney’s animated film, “Lilo & Stitch” in 2002 and is celebrated on June 26.
The date is a nod to when Stitch was referred to as Experiment 626.
Is 626 day the same as National Stitch Day?
National Stitch Day has a few other names, including 626 day and Lilo & Stitch Day.
In the movie, Stitch was originally referred to as Experiment 626. That brings us to 6/26 or June 26.
Lilo renamed him Stitch in the movie.
Still in theaters: Live-action remake of ‘Lilo & Stitch’
Stitch, otherwise known as Experiment 626, is pursued by fellow aliens Jumba (Zach Galifianakis) and Pleakley (Billy Magnussen), who have been sent to retrieve him after he escapes from another galaxy in Disney’s live-action remake still in theaters after its Memorial Day release.
In case you’ve been lost in another galaxy, the Hawaii-set comedy follows a lonely little girl named Lilo (Maia Kealoha) who adopts a “dog” called Stitch. Stitch is actually a mischievous alien experiment who escaped his home galaxy and is now being hunted by extraterrestrials.

If you haven’t seen the new movie, there are several differences between it and Disney’s original, including the ending.
When can I livestream new ‘Lilo & Stitch’ movie?
According to Forbes, the live-action film is expected to arrive on Disney+ approximately three months after its theatrical release, which puts its arrival around late August or early September.
