Florida State has been after four-star Oklahoma quarterback commit Jaden O’Neal over the last several months. According to Zach Blostein of Noles247, that pursuit is getting ready to come full circle as he placed a crystal ball prediction for the Seminoles to flip him.
O’Neal is the nation’s No. 205 overall recruit and the No. 13 quarterback per 247Sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder is the No. 1 prospect in Oklahoma as well.
FSU hosted O’Neal back in April. He made his way to Tallahassee on Sunday for an official visit. One thing that stood out was head coach Mike Norvell.
“To see that energy displayed time and time again, it shows the consistency,” O’Neal told Noles247. “And the support staff around him as well, it shows that he knows what he’s doing. He has a couple vets in there, a couple Pro Bowlers. Coach knows what he’s doing.”
This visit allowed O’Neal to get more time with offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn as well as quarterbacks coach Tony Tokarz. He mentioned how the way Malzahn uses quarterbacks appeals to what his skill set is.
“I feel like he uses the quarterback’s strength to the offense. I feel like he’s able to tailor certain strengths and weaknesses to calling the play. I do a lot of vertical option and they do that as well. A lot of play-action, a lot of naked books, a lot of RPOs as well. So I feel like I fit that part of the system.”
As a sophomore in 2023 at Newport Harbor High School in California, O’Neal registered 2,475 passing yards and 27 touchdowns while completing 61% of his passes. Last season as a junior at Narbonne High School, O’Neal continued to be productive as he threw for 2,670 yards and 18 scores. Also, he ran for 370 yards and 10 touchdowns.
O’Neal has become the top quarterback target for Florida State in the 2026 class, and with them not having a signal-caller for the cycle, they must succeed in flipping him.
