Past due lunch charges, overdue homework or missed events may soon be a thing of the past in Santa Rosa County District Schools.
The school district recently launched an app – SRCDS – to help parents keep up with the goings-on in their child’s classroom and school. The app went live on June 1 and is available in the IOS App Store or Android Play Store.
The app is multilingual and features live news updates, district and individual school alerts, staff email addresses, breakfast and lunch menus, and upcoming school and school-related community events, among other features.
Beginning Aug. 4, the Rooms feature will go live, allowing parents to securely message teachers directly within the app for individual conversations. Teachers can also post announcements and class materials in Rooms.
To use Rooms, parents must log in with the custodial email address on file in the FOCUS Parent Portal. If there are changes, contact information must be updated – in the FOCUS Parent Portal – by Aug. 4. Parents also can opt in to receive school alerts via phone call, text or email on the portal.
Quick access links to grades
The SRCDS app does not replace the FOCUS Parent Portal, MySchoolBucks, SAFESTOP or the bus tracking app, but it does integrate quick-access links to the platforms so parents can view class assignments, grades, pay for school meals or even see the location of their child’s school bus in real time.
The school district’s newsletter LEAPS & Bounds is available on the site, as well as the upcoming dates and locations of school board meetings.
As of July 2, the SRCDS app has been downloaded 3,181 times – the school district has about 30,000 families.
