Florida State alumni have gone on to have wildly successful careers in the pros and in the coaching ranks, and baseball is adding yet another bullet point to its already impressive resume.
The NC State Wolfpack has hired former Seminole Chris Hart as the next head coach of its baseball program, Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan announced. Hart becomes the 17th head coach in NC State baseball history after working with the program for the previous 22 seasons.
Hart graduated from Florida State in 2003 with a degree in Sport Management and joined NC State in 2005 to serve as the Director of Baseball Operations. Under Mike Martin’s coaching at FSU, Hart played 195 games for the Seminoles and helped them reach the College World Series in 1999 and 2000.
In 2021, Hart was named the Baseball America National Assistant Coach of the Year for his work with the Wolfpack. When asked about the decision, Corrigan explained why they promoted him.
“He loves NC State and has chosen to stay, despite numerous opportunities to leave. We could go out and search nationally for our new head coach, but I’m so glad that we didn’t have to because the best man for the job was right here.”
