Motorcycle rider sustains head injuries after crash in Florida

A motorcycle rider sustained head injuries June 24 following a crash on Delaware Avenue, according to Fort Pierce Police.

The incident happened about 11:55 a.m. as the motorcyclist, a 30-year-old man, traveled east on Delaware Avenue at South 17th Street, Maj. Michael Santiago said.

The man lost control, hit the median and was thrown from the motorcycle, Santiago said.

The man was not wearing a helmet and sustained head injuries, Santiago said. He was conscious and breathing.

He was taken to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, though his condition the afternoon of June 24 was not immediately clear.
