Winning a state championship is one of the toughest accomplishments in high school sports, especially in an individual event where success depends entirely on personal performance. Mosley’s Cade Fowler and Kirk Lishbrook reached that milestone this season, earning state titles and sharing Bay County Boys Weightlifting Lifter of the Year honors.
Fowler captured his second consecutive Class 2A traditional state championship in the 183-pound division, posting a 295-pound clean and jerk and a 380-pound bench press for a combined total of 675 pounds.
Lishbrook claimed the Class 2A traditional state title in the 169-pound division with a 245-pound clean and jerk and a 370-pound bench press, totaling 615 pounds.
Coach of the Year: William McCrory (Mosley)
Mosley established itself as one of the area’s top programs throughout the season, winning the Bay County traditional title and finishing runner-up in Olympic lifting. The Dolphins followed with a district championship in traditional lifting and a runner-up finish in Olympic competition.
At the regional meet, Mosley placed second overall and qualified seven lifters for the state championships.
The Dolphins finished as traditional state runners-up, producing two individual state champions and four top-six finishers. Mosley also received a Bay District Schools award for posting the highest overall team GPA in the county.
