The city manager for Monticello in Jefferson County has been charged with possessing child pornography, according to reports.
Kurt Mackiewicz has been charged with 10 counts of possession or promotion of certain images of child pornography. He is being held in Jefferson County’s jail awaiting his first appearance in court as of May 19.
Investigators had become aware that Mackiewicz had the material, and also was intending to distribute it.
A press release said, based on evidence obtained during the investigation, probable cause was developed for a search warrant of Mackewicz’s home and his place of employment, that is, Monticello City Hall.
The search warrants were executed May 19 and further evidence was obtained leading to arrest, they said.
