UPDATE: Missing 21-year-old In South Walton has been found safe

9:50 a.m. Update: William Cheeley, who went missing about 3 a.m. June 27, has been located safe.

“Cheeley has been located at a residence nearby,” according to a post on the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Facebook.

“We appreciate the multiple agencies who came out to assist in the search,” WCSO posted on Facebook.

A search is currently underway for a missing 21-year-old from Georgia near Eastern Lake in South Walton, according to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. 

“At approximately 3 a.m., friends reported that William Cheeley entered the water and did not resurface,” according to a post on the WCSO Facebook page. 

The Coast Guard along with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office have vessels in the water and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is providing air and water assets in the search. 

Eastern Lake is a coastal dune lake located in Seagrove Beach, south of 30A. 

The WCSO Facebook post noted in a comment that he entered the water about 50-foot west of the washout. 

The WCSO is requesting, if you locate Cheeley, call 911 or 850-892-8111.
