Mike Norvell: 'good chance' Duce Robinson plays vs Stanford

The Florida State Seminoles suffered several injuries during their loss to the Pitt Panthers. Head coach Mike Norvell provided an update on two of the players on Monday during his press conference.

While they are optimistic about wide receiver Duce Robinson returning for the Stanford game, Norvell has already ruled linebacker Stefon Thompson out for the game.

“Duce coming off the game, unfortunate that he went down,” Norvell said. “I do think there is a good chance this week. We’ll see how it progresses. Obviously the availability update Thursday night at 11 p.m., is that what time y’all are going to get that. We’ll see how it progresses with Duce, how that goes. He was moving around yesterday. We’ll kind of see how he goes with practice tomorrow, Wednesday, to see what his availability will be.”

Wide receivers coach Tim Harris Jr. echoed Norvell’s statement on Tuesday, saying they “feel good about where he is.”

Robinson has emerged as FSU’s top wide receiver and a go-to target for quarterback Tommy Castellanos. He leads the Seminoles in receptions (25), yards (443), and touchdowns (3). He transferred to FSU from USC and has already set career highs in receptions and yards in a season, despite playing in just six games.

“Stefon, I’ll share it now, he’ll be out this week,” Norvell said. “Hopefully not going to be too extended period of time. But he will be out this week. Hopefully with a bye week, a little bit of time after that, we’ll be able to get him back sooner rather than later.”

Thompson has been a rotational linebacker for the Seminoles, playing in all six games. He has recorded 12 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 1.5 tackles for loss in his first year with FSU. He followed defensive coordinator Tony White from Nebraska after spending the first four years of his career at Syracuse.
