Mike Evans projected to land top end deal heading into final year of deal

Mike Evans has cemented himself as one of the best players in the history of the NFL to play the wide receiver position, as well as the best player in Bucs franchise history. He has proven to be a model of consistency during his time with the team since being drafted in 2014 and has never looked back or flinched in the face of anything across from him.

Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports wrote about the top candidates to receive an extension for every NFL team. For the Bucs, it was the obvious choice of looming free agent and franchise legend Mike Evans. The team has shown they like having a lot of firepower, and Evans isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.

Sullivan writes, “Evans has been a staple atop the Buccaneers receiver depth chart dating back to when he entered the league in 2014, and the veteran is entering the final year of his current contract. Despite that lack of long-term security, it would be pretty remarkable to see Evans playing anywhere other than Tampa. The 31-year-old continues to be among the best boundary receivers in the NFL and has registered 11 straight seasons of 1,000 yards. His current deal pays him an AAV of $20.5 million and should continue to be in that range, if not exceed it.”

Evans will be 32 at the end of this upcoming season, so it will be interesting to see how long of an extension he earns.

The money seems to be right that Sullivan is predicting. He has never been anything but consistent and, as a result, is worthy of earning top-end money.
