According to the county, additional goals include “updating landscaping to beautify the area, enhancing street lighting to improve pedestrian safety and (putting) electric lines underground to increase resiliency during storm.”
The road closure and construction for the latest phase, which started in 2024, spans the portion of South Magnolia from Pontiac Drive to Diamond Street.
County staff already completed work on Phases 1,4 and 6 with phases 2 and 3 wrapping up. Phase 3, which will focus on Diamond Street to Apalachee Parkway, is currently in the design phase and has Phase 5 incorporated into it “to best align construction operations, resources and timetable,” county spokesperson Matt Cavell said.
