Legendary bar no longer for sale: Beloved Brevard beachside staple is here to stay.

Lou’s Blues is staying put: the owners announced that the iconic Brevard bar and restaurant has been taken off the market.

“We are no longer for sale and completely off the market as of August 4,” owner Michael Pauline told FLORIDA TODAY.

Pauline listed the building for sale in 2024. He confirmed in April 2025 that Lou’s was under contract with potential buyers; however, there was a three-year lease-back in place, providing the sale went through.

But in a welcome twist for this beachside locale’s fans, he’s decided to stay.

Why the change of heart?

“The important reason for the change in sale is my unbelievable staff,” Pauline said. “They have stuck with me through this entire process and not a single person left. That is loyalty and dedication. I feel that I need to return that to them.”

Through this process, Pauline said that he has learned how to manage a better work/life balance and he looks forward to another five to 10 years as the owner of Lou’s Blues.

A closer look at one of Brevard’s favorite bars

Lou’s Blue’s, located at 3191 State Road A1A, keeps the good times rolling with live entertainment every day of the week, a wide selection of drinks and consistently crave-worthy food. Head up to the upper deck if you want a view of the ocean with your calamari.

Since 2002, this restaurant and bar has been a cherished destination for both locals and tourists — a true Brevard staple known for great vibes, fun times and some unforgettable sights.

Once known as The Dragon Lady, a Chinese bar and restaurant rumored to have a brothel upstairs, Lou’s Blues now pays tribute to its past through its logo and a sculpture at the entrance.

From an alligator replica to the vintage Charlie McCarthy puppet and the toboggan gifted by a Canadian snowbird, the backdrop of Lou’s Blues narrates the tale of this historic establishment.

Pauline worked for Darden Restaurants as director of operations for more than 16 years. Wanting to live a life of more vacations and less corporate work, he moved to Brevard County in 2005 and decided in 2018 to purchase and run Lou’s Blues.

Clearly, Pauline is not ready to move on — and Lou’s Blues many fans will be thanking him for that.
