A dozen flavors of chicken salad? A Thanksgiving-themed sub? Free personal-sized bundt cake? Sign us up.
By the end of April, Cape Coral will get two new fast-casual restaurants along Pine Island Road.
Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop will make its debut on April 28, followed by Chicken Salad Chick’s grand opening on April 29.
And there’s one more. Nothing Bundt Cakes, which opened April 9 on Santa Barbara Boulevard, will hold its grand opening celebration with giveaways and specials from April 27 to May 2.
Here’s a quick look at what to expect …
Capriotti’s
This popular sandwich shop’s grand opening is Tuesday, April 28, at 327 SW 10th Place, unit 202, in the Shops at Del Mar. Right next to Tropical Smoothie, the nearly 1,500-square-foot space will front Pine Island Road. Following a 10 a.m. ribbon-cutting, guests can enter a raffle for the chance to win a catering package and more.
“Opening this restaurant is the result of years of curiosity and recognizing the right opportunity,” Jennifer Cairns, owner and operator of the new location, said in a news release. “Capriotti’s has given me the chance to build something meaningful while becoming part of the community. We have already felt a great deal of support since moving to Southwest Florida, and we cannot wait to serve Cape Coral.”
The lifelong Fort Mill, South Carolina, resident — with 20-plus years as a national account manager — moved to the area 18 months ago.
Founded in Wilmington, Delaware, in 1976, Capriotti’s is known for signature subs, including slow-roasted-in-house turkey and cheesesteaks. Its Bobbie is billed as the original Thanksgiving sandwich (available year-round) and consists of slow-roasted turkey, house-made stuffing, cranberry sauce and mayo.
Capriotti’s, which states its made-to-order sandwiches have 25 percent more meat than standard subs, has more than 150 locations in 33 states. As of April 28, the Cape Coral shop — which will have dine-in, pickup, delivery and catering options — will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
It will be the first in Southwest Florida in nearly eight years. The location at the Shops at Hidden Lakes in Bonita Springs on U.S. 41 closed in 2018 after a 12 1/2-year run. Go to capriottis.com or follow on Facebook for more.
Chicken Salad Chick
The grand opening for this fast casual chicken salad restaurant will be Wednesday, April 29, at 1206 Solaris Drive (among all those new builds off Pine Island Road, just west of Mel’s Diner). Doors open at 10 a.m.
In addition to the 9:45 a.m. ribbon-cutting, the first 100 guests in line will win free chicken salad for a year (see Chicken Salad Chick’s Facebook page for complete details, rules and restrictions). Daily giveaways continue with a free teal cooler on April 30, a free navy canvas tote bag May 1, and a free stainless steel tumbler on May 2 — all available to the first 50 customers who purchase an entrée and two sides on that day.
Chicken Salad Chick is known for its scratch-made chicken salad in more than a dozen varieties, fresh sides, gourmet soups, sandwiches and desserts.
The Cape Coral location — which will have inside dining, a drive-thru, take-out and delivery options — will be the fourth in Southwest Florida behind Fort Myers (in 2022), Estero and Port Charlotte. Beginning April 29, it will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Go to chickensaladchick.com or follow on Facebook for more.
And …
Nothing Bundt Cakes
Although Karen and Larry Weber and Chris Weber opened this sweet addition to Cape Coral on April 9, its grand opening celebration is April 27 to May 2. You’ll find the bundt-loving dessert shop in the Five Guys and Firehouse Subs-anchored The Towers and Towers II plaza at 2708 Santa Barbara Blvd., Unit 150.
Grand opening specials include a ribbon cutting at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 30; a Bikers Against Child Abuse Benefit all day on May 1 (20 percent of sales that day will go to the nonprofit); and a free confetti bundtlet for the first 300 customers on May 2 beginning at 9 a.m. (one per guest, must be 18 or older).
And on Customer Appreciation Days from April 27-30 (all day), a free bundtlet (for those showing their badges or in uniform) will be given to health care workers on April 27; teachers and school staff on April 28; first responders and military on April 29; and city employees on April 30.
Nothing Bundt Cakes sells Bundtlets, Bundtinis by the Dozen and Bundt Cakes in 8 and 10-inch sizes. The deliciously moist cakes come in 11 flavors, not counting the monthly featured and pop-up flavors.
There are more than 800 locations in the U.S. and Canada, with more than 50 in Florida (including one each in Fort Myers and Estero — both owned by the Weber family too — and two in Naples in addition to the Cape Coral one).
“Guests have been begging us to expand and now we get to bring joy and delicious cake to so many people. We can’t wait to get involved in this entire community,” Karen Weber said in a news release.
The new Cape spot is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Follow on Facebook for more.
