Just more than a day after authorities launched a death investigation at a Lehigh Acres home, they ruled it a homicide.
Shortly after 6:30 a.m. July 27, Lee County sheriff’s deputies responded to a home in the 4500 block of 22nd Street Southwest. At the time, authorities said the scene was contained.
The sheriff’s office said a man died, and shortly after 10 a.m. July 28 confirmed it was a homicide.
This is the third Lee County homicide in as many days — two of them in the sheriff’s office’s jurisdiction and one of them in Fort Myers Police’s purview.
In Fort Myers, a man, 23, is accused of shooting his mother to death, then attempting to burn her body on Saturday, July 25. The sheriff is leading that investigation. Also in Fort Myers, Fort Myers Police are investigating a shooting death at an apartment complex on the morning of July 27. A man claiming to be responsible is in Lee County Jail.
