Leon County Sheriff’s Office deputies shot and injured a man who tried to draw his gun on them during a May 14 encounter, the agency said in a news release.
The Sheriff’s Office said deputies were trying to serve an eviction notice Thursday afternoon in the 6400 block of West Tennessee Street when the man became “uncooperative.”
“LCSO deputies deployed a taser due to the man not responding to commands,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “The man then attempted to draw his weapon. Deputies responded shooting and injuring the suspect.”
Javonni Hampton, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office, described the man’s injuries as “life-threatening.”
“He was transported to a local hospital immediately,” she told the Democrat, and he is being treated at this time. I am unaware of his condition.”
The Sheriff’s Office didn’t release the man’s name or say what kind of firearm he had.
“We will release more details as they become available,” LCSO said.
