REOPENED: Jacksonville's Main Street bridge closure called off

UPDATE: The bridge is back open.

“There was a minor mechanical issue this morning that prevented the Main Street bridge from opening, but FDOT Bridge crews were able to mobilize on-site and get the issue fixed quickly, and the bridge has been open since late morning,” a spokeswoman told the Times-Union.

ORIGINAL ALERT:

Downtown Jacksonville’s busy Main Street bridge will be closed in both directions while the Florida Department of Transportation completes a repair, the Sheriff’s Office advised as of 10:30 a.m. June 24.

The Sheriff’s Office didn’t specify how long it might take or what the repair involves.

The Times-Union will update once the bridge reopens.
