A Daytona Beach mother is out of jail after being arrested for beating up a teacher when he refused to let her enter the school office to inquire about her child’s backpack, court records show.
Records show the teacher was an employee at Turie T. Small Elementary School in Daytona Beach.
It took an assistant principal and a school resource officer to separate Lynesia Dorsey from the teacher she was repeatedly punching in the face, her arrest report noted.
The teacher suffered light bruising and a cut to the face, police described in the arrest report.
Dorsey, 26, also fought the assistant school principal striking him several times. The assistant principal had several lacerations to his body, but he refused medical attention and declined to press charges, Daytona Beach police said.
Dorsey was arrested Aug. 13 for the attack on the teacher and was jailed on a charge of battery on a school board employee, according to Volusia County Branch Jail records. She was free on $5,000 bail.

According to an arrest report Daytona Beach police filed with the court, Dorsey went to the elementary school’s office around 2:32 p.m. with her child to ask about a backpack left in the classroom.
School was letting out for the fourth day and the teacher told Dorsey she was not allowed to enter the front office for the first week of school because all personnel were busy ensuring the children were safe, court records show.
Dorsey tried to enter the office, and as the teacher stood his ground, that’s when she started punching the teacher in the face with both hands, police said.
As Dorsey rained punches on the teacher, the assistant principal grabbed her from behind trying to restrain her, but she turned on the principal, hitting him multiple times, court documents highlight.
A school resource officer then arrived and helped the assistant principal restrain Dorsey, the arrest report points out.
A Daytona Beach police officer then arrived and arrested Dorsey, court records show.
Dorsey complained of pain in her right wrist and middle finger and was taken to the hospital to be checked out before she was taken to jail, police said.
