Jordan Valley opens second Pensacola location at Barrancas Avenue

Popular Pensacola Middle Eastern restaurant Jordan Valley has opened a second location at 1400 Barrancas Ave., replacing the former Pineapple Express Hawaiian Grill.

Jordan Valley owner Tamer Ghboun, who also owns the building on Barrancas Avenue, originally planned to relocate his business from 201 S. Jefferson St., where he had been leasing after that building was sold last year. However, the Jefferson Street location will now remain open “until advanced further notice,” he said.

In the meantime, he will operate two unique locations serving traditional Middle Eastern fare, featuring many of the same high-quality, fan-favorite dishes that have been a staple of his home country of Jordan, which he has been serving since 2005.

Some of his personal favorites from the menu include the Mixed Grill platter, which is the total package offering a variety of grilled meats, sauces and pita, as well as the Chicken Shawarma, a tender, marinated boneless chicken flavored with 17 different seasonings, paired with homemade garlic sauce.

Even if you’re not a meat-lover, there is still a variety of flavorful dishes to choose from, including their stuffed grape leaves, falafel, hummus and their famous desserts.

The menu is divided into a variety of platters and sandwiches, perfect for those looking for a gyro on the go or a sit-down platter complete with Greek salad, fresh pita and a side of hummus.

Ghboun has been working on the new location for months, transforming the space to be welcoming to guests, from the mural of sunset-soaked deserts of Jordan greeting guests outside, to the warm, tan leather booths and crystal chandeliers in the main dining room.

He also created an expansive open-air seating area in front of the restaurant, where they offer hookah services similar to their flagship restaurant.

While they have only been open a few days, customers can’t get enough of the fresh-off-the-grill flavor, attentive service and comfortable dining space.

Right now, Jordan Valley’s Barrancas Avenue hours are from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday.

Ghboun plans to continue improving the experience by offering live music and entertainment over time.
