The Jacksonville Jaguars are reportedly trading offensive tackle Fred Johnson to the Philadelphia Eagles, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
In return, the Jaguars are getting a 2026 seventh-round draft pick from Philadelphia.
The Jaguars signed Johnson this past offseason as a free agent after he had spent the previous two seasons with the Eagles. Johnson went undrafted in 2019 out of Florida and has also spent time with Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Tampa Bay.
Johnson has mostly been an off-the-bench option in his career at offensive tackle. With the Eagles in 2024, Johnson played a career-high 497 snaps, which included six starts.
Johnson played 78 snaps on offense for the Jaguars in their first two preseason games. He allowed two pressures and no sacks, according to PFF. Johnson did not play in the preseason finale against Miami.
Prior to the trade, it seemed like Johnson was going to provide the Jaguars with tackle depth and potentially do so at both the right and left tackle spots.
Chuma Edoga, Patrick Mekari, and Anton Harrison are all options at right tackle, while Walker Little will likely be at left tackle. Rookie Wyatt Milum played tackle in college, while Cole Van Lanen, when healthy, could provide a swing tackle option.
