Jaguars select Maryland S Jalen Huskey in third round

To close out Day 2 of the 2026 NFL draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars selected Maryland safety Jalen Huskey with the 100th overall pick.

More to come on this selection.

Listed as a cornerback, Huskey is a versatile defender, playing all over the defensive backfield, including lining up at free safety and in the box during his career.

Last season, he allowed a completion rate when targeted of 65%, but held pass-catchers to only 7.4 yards per reception. He also logged 11 interceptions over three seasons with six pass breakups, showcasing impressive ball production.

Not to be overlooked, either, but Huskey was a capable and willing run defender as well.

Why did the Jaguars pick a safety?

The Jaguars seemed to be positioned well at safety with Eric Murray and Antonio Johnson leading the way, along with 2025 draft picks Caleb Ransaw and Rayuan Lane also on the roster. But adding depth was on James Gladstone’s radar with Andrew Wingard now in Arizona.
