How long has Travis Hunter been with the Jaguars?
The Jaguars traded up to No. 2 to get Hunter in the 2025 NFL Draft. Hunter was a two-way phenom who won the Heisman Trophy, the Chuck Bednarik Award, and the Fred Biletnikoff Award for the best defensive player and wide receiver, respectively. He is the only person in college football history to ever win all three.
Recapping Travis Hunter’s 2025 season
Hunter’s rookie year was promising, and he continued taking snaps on both offense and defense. Most of his playing time came on the offensive side of the ball. In Week 8, he had a breakout performance, logging eight catches for 104 yards and a touchdown.
In eight games, he finished the season with 28 receptions for 298 yards total and one touchdown, as well as 15 tackles and three pass break-ups on defense. His season was cut short with a knee injury, which required surgery.
Looking ahead to 2026 for Travis Hunter
There are two major questions surrounding Hunter going into 2026. The first is how he will rebound from injury, and if he will still be able to play at a high level. By all accounts, he seems to be recovering well, making expectations high for his return.
The second question is what his role will be. Hunter, who is both a wide receiver and a cornerback, had more snaps on offense than defense last year. It has been rumored that the opposite will happen in 2026, with Hunter playing cornerback full-time, while still taking snaps on offense — although how many remains to be seen. But for now, that is just speculation, and what his official role in 2026 will be is still to be determined.
