As the 2025 NFL trade deadline nears, the question for the Jacksonville Jaguars is buy or … buy?
The Jaguars are 5-3 after the 30-29 overtime win at the Las Vegas Raiders on Nov. 2. They are currently the seventh and final seed in the AFC playoff picture, a half-game ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs. But like more than half of the rest of the NFL, another piece or two from a non-contending team would help.
The problem is, trades in the NFL are far from easy to complete.
Plus, there are a several injuries Jacksonville is dealing with, most notably Travis Hunter. The rookie wide receiver/cornerback is on injured reserve for at least the next three weeks.
So what will the Jaguars do? A look at what to watch for rookie general manager James Gladstone’s first trade deadline:

Jaguars trade deadline rumors, news
Here are the latest happenings with Jacksonville around the NFL trade deadline.
Jaguars add WR Jakobi Meyers from Raiders
The Jaguars added to its receiving corps, trading for wideout Jakobi Meyers from the Las Vegas Raiders for fourth- and sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
Meyers, 28, has 33 catches for 352 yards but no touchdowns in seven games this season. But he had 1,027 yards and four touchdowns in 15 games in 2024.
The Athletic: Teams calling about Brian Thomas Jr.
The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported on Saturday that Jaguars receiver Brian Thomas Jr. was one of several players across the league teams are calling about. That, of course, came before Thomas suffered a lower-leg injury late in the win over the Raiders. His status is unknown as of Monday morning.
Our Demetrius Harvey listed four players to watch at the deadline for the Jaguars:
Jakobi Meyers, WR, Las Vegas Raiders
Meyers requested a trade months ago and still wants one, according to what he told reporters recently. The Jaguars have issues at receiver after Tim Patrick sustained a groin injury, and due to ongoing issues with holding onto the football.
The only players with 100 or more targets and zero drops in 2024, according to Pro Football Focus? Meyers.
Calais Campbell, DL, Arizona Cardinals
The Jaguars are familiar with Campbell, who played for the team from 2017-19 before being traded away ahead of the 2020 season. Campbell, 39, remains a productive player with three sacks, five tackles for loss and 19 total tackles this season. He’d help shore up the team’s inside pass rush, while offering veteran leadership to the group as a whole.
Kyle Dugger, S, New England Patriots
The Jaguars do not have the answers they need at safety. They’ve been hampered by missed assignments at times and Dugger could fill the need as a band-aid player. Not to mention, starter Eric Murray ought to be watched closely after being ruled out of the game last week against the Rams with a neck injury.
Mark Andrews, TE, Baltimore Ravens
Jaguars tight end Brenton Strange will remain out for at least a couple more weeks after being placed on injured reserve on Oct. 7. Jacksonville misses the sure-handed tight end and could use help in the receiver room. Andrews helps on both ends, and his time is almost up in Baltimore (as is Baltimore’s season).
