Investigating troopers said the Indiana man was eastbound on SR 40 west of U.S. Highway 17 in Barberville. For unknown reasons, the Indiana resident in his Honda Accord veered into the westbound lanes of SR 40 and collided head-on with a Honda CR-V.

The driver of the Honda CR-V, a 35-year-old man of Oklawaha, and his passenger, a 30-year-old woman, also of Oklawaha, were transported to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach with serious injuries, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
