And suddenly, the 2026 Masters is up for grabs after Rory McIlroy fell back to earth.
The leaderboard being so tight can’t be blamed entirely on a collapse by the defending champ, who after all still holds the lead heading into the final round. Cameron Young, who won The Players Championship last month, went on a blistering run to obliterate McIlroy’s record six-stroke lead. He and two-time Masters champion Scottie Scheffler had matching 7-under 65s on the day to put the pressure on.
Sam Burns, Shane Lowry and Haotong Li are in the mix for their first green jacket, as is Justin Rose, who finished runner-up to McIlroy last year and three times total at Augusta National. Could Patrick Cantlay or Russell Henley keep up their hot runs for another day and win their first Masters?
