The challenge, this season for UF, is a little more arduous. The sixth-seeded orange and blue (51-10) host No. 11 Texas Tech (55-6) in a star-studded showdown with gobs of talent on both sides in the NCAA Gainesville Super Regional.
The Red Raiders swept the Lubbock Regional last weekend, but not without some drama along the way. It fell behind 8-0 to Ole Miss in the seventh inning of the second game, but TTU came all the way back to win 10-9 in eight inning.
“Just talking about it gives me butterflies. My heart drops. Even a day later, I was still so shook,” Texas Tech second baseman and former Gator Mia Williams said.
The Gators also swept through the Gainesville Regional, outscoring Florida A&M and Georgia Tech in three games 25-2.
“We take every single game in the regular season as a game that we would play in the World Series, so we never took an inning off, and I think that really paid off in the regional,” Florida third baseman Kendall Grover said.
