How Charlie Woods fared in Team TaylorMade Invitational second round

Charlie Woods fell back from the leaders in the second round of the Team TaylorMade Invitational on Saturday, May 23 in Belleair, Florida.

Starting on hole No. 10, Woods played the opening nine holes at even-par, offsetting a pair of bogeys with birdies. He hit trouble on No. 1, however, carding a triple bogey and bogey on consecutive holes. He steadied the rest of the round and clawed back a birdie on No. 7.

More notable first round scores include: Palm Beach Gardens’ Ryan Nana Tanke remains in second (-7); tournament leader Bodie Brumlow (-11) as well as Miles Russell (-3) and Giuseppe Puebla (-1), the No. 1 and 2 players in the AJGA rankings, were still on the course as of 1 p.m. ET.

Woods is the defending champion at the Team TaylorMade Invitational. He won last year’s event after shooting 15-under across the three-day event at Streamsong Resort’s Black course, besting some of the nation’s top junior golfers like Miles Russell.

The victory was a personal breakthrough for Woods, who entered the event ranked No. 604 in the American Junior Golf Association rankings with no career AJGA tournament victories. He surged hundreds of places in the AJGA golf rankings after the win and is currently ranked No. 13 overall.
