As expected, 2027 Chicago (Ill.) Mount Carmel four-star safety Tavares Harrington became Michigan football’s 14 commitment to the class on Friday, not closing out the surge in pledges, but certainly putting a punctuation mark on the past two weeks.
Two weeks ago, the Wolverines were hovering near the 30th mark in most of the recruiting site team rankings, while being unranked according to ESPN. But, even before Harrington’s pledge, ESPN vaulted Michigan up to No. 10, and now that he’s in the fold, he’s risen more in some of the other recruiting site team rankings.
The sharpest rise is on the 247Sports Composite, where Michigan is now the No. 8 team, having vaulted over Ohio State, Kentucky, and Penn State. 247Sports’ proprietary rankings has the Wolverines at No. 11 overall. Rivals also has Michigan as the No. 11 team at the moment, which is where it was before Harrington’s pledge — it remains there after.
ESPN only updates its rankings sporadically.
