According to FHP, a 2020 Nissan Kicks traveling southbound on S.R. 11 swerved into the path of a northbound 2022 Chevy Silverado that was towing a trailer.

The Nissan struck the front of the Chevy.

The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene, according to FHP.

The driver of the Chevy, a 46-year-old man from Palm Coast, was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

This is the third traffic fatality in Pierson this week. On Wednesday, July 2, two brothers were killed when a train hit their vehicle as they tried to drive around the lowered barriers at a railroad crossing, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office said.
