Florida State football (3-0) has returned to primetime again.
The team announced Monday, Sept. 22, that game against Miami (4-0) on Saturday, Oct. 4, at sold-out Doak Campbell Stadium will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on ABC.
The two in-state rivals are currently ranked in the top 10. It is the first time since 2016 that both FSU and Miami are ranked.
Miami moved up to No. 6 in the US LBM Coaches Poll after defeating the Florida Gators, and FSU moved up to No. 8 after a win over Kent State. While FSU is focused on its first ACC game and road opener against UVA (3-1), which will kick off at 7 p.m. on Friday night, Miami is on a bye in Week 5.
If the Seminoles come out victorious against the Cavaliers and remain undefeated, it will be the first time since 2013 that both teams are ranked in the Top 10 heading into the rivalry game. At the time, FSU was ranked No. 3 after defeating UM, which eventually led the Seminoles to their last national championship run.
While FSU’s best win is its season opener against Alabama, Miami has three signature wins against Notre Dame, USF and Florida. It will also be an interesting quarterback matchup between Tommy Castellanos and Carson Beck.
FSU is 33-36 in its 69-year history against Miami. The Seminoles lost to the Hurricanes last season, 36-14, at Hard Rock Stadium. The Seminoles have not lost to the Hurricanes at Doak Campbell Stadium since 2019. Single-game tickets are sold out, but resale tickets are available on SeatGeek.
FSU leads the country with 628.7 yards a game after producing over 700 yards of offense in back-to-back games. In its win against Kent State, the Seminoles set a school record for most rushing yards (498) in a game and rushing touchdowns (8).
Additionally, ESPN typically announces its College GameDay location a week in advance, often on the Saturday of the preceding week’s broadcast. Its Week 5 location in State College, Pennsylvania.
