FSU transfer outlines goals for 2027 season

The FSU baseball team has made several additions since the end of the 2026 season, and landing catcher Coy Clements is one of the most important. The slugger is coming off an All-American season at Pearl River Community College, which he helped lead to a national championship.

He hit a program record 24 home runs to go with a .392 batting average, 10 doubles, and a .844 slugging percentage. His 54 walks were the second most in program history, and his 71 RBI were fifth. He is looking to continue the individual and team success in Tallahassee, setting some lofty goals for the program and himself ahead of the 2027 season.

“My goal is to go to Florida State and win a national championship,” Clements told Warchant’s Corey Clark. “Hopefully get drafted in the first or second round and become a big-leaguer. Play as long as I can until I’ve got to hang my cleats up and then become a coach.”

He has experience at the Division I level, spending his freshman season at Southern Miss in 2025. He took a redshirt that year before heading to the JUCO level. He will have four seasons of eligibility with the Seminoles, but is draft-eligible already.

Clements made two errors behind the plate and allowed seven passed balls, throwing out 14 base stealers in 39 attempts. He struck out just 34 times in 186 at-bats, finishing with a .532 on-base percentage. He scored 63 runs and had a 1.376 OPS.
