Florida State soccer lost its second consecutive game in a 2-1 defeat to Stanford on Thursday, Oct. 16 at Seminole Soccer Complex.
The Seminoles (8-2-2) allowed two first-half goals to the Cardinal, who struck on a pair of counterattacks to give FSU its first loss at home in the regular season since falling to North Carolina in 2022.

Despite winning the possession battle and outshooting Stanford 11-5 in the first half, the Cardinal opened the scoring when Andrea Kitahata curled in her effort from the left side of the box into the bottom of the far right corner in the sixth minute.
The Seminoles threatened Stanford’s goal a few times in the opening period of play, with an effort from Heather Gilchrist going wide of the post and a Jordynn Dudley shot that flew over the crossbar the two best scoring chances.
In the 36th minute, the Cardinal won a free kick on a counter, and took it quickly with Charlotte Kohler taking a shot from just outside the box. Her effort went at goalkeeper Addie Todd, who initially saved the effort but lost control of the ball, which rolled across the line for the second goal.
Despite a second half of consistent pressure in Stanford’s half of the field, the Seminoles couldn’t break through until the 84th minute when Jordynn Dudley connected on a cross from Solai Washington. She was able to chest the ball into the net and set up the frenzied final minutes of play.
Dudley was brought down in the box in the 88th minute, but was deemed not to have been fouled, a call which was upheld after a video review. It was the Seminoles last chance of the game.
