Palm Beach Town Council appoints new Code Enforcement Board member

The Palm Beach Town Council has appointed Michelle Cohen as the newest alternate member of the Code Enforcement Board.

Cohen will take over the position left vacant by John Cohen, who was appointed as a regular member back in January. John and Michelle Cohen are not related.

A resident of Palm Beach’s Midtown since 2021, Michelle Cohen told the council during its April 14 meeting that she wanted to serve on the code board after the positive experience she had when the condominium she resides in was hit with a code violation.

“I grew to really appreciate the importance of code enforcement because … you realize the (fines) did motivate us to do things that we really needed to get done,” she said. “So, I think this is a really important committee, and I would also consider a privilege to serve the town and give back to the community.”

Council Members praised Cohen for her enthusiasm at the opportunity to serve Palm Beach.

“We’ve had some conversations, and I think you are committed to making our town a better place, and I think code enforcement is a good place for you to start,” Council President Pro-Temp Lew Crampton said.
