The FSU Seminoles entered the race for 2028 three-star athlete Kaydan Whiteside this summer, hosting him at a camp on June 14 and extending a scholarship later that day after he impressed the coaching staff. The North Carolina native has set a return date.
Whiteside is set to return to Tallahassee on Oct. 3 to watch Florida State play the Virginia Cavaliers in Doak Campbell Stadium, according to Tyler Harden of Swamp247. He also has visits to see the Florida Gators, Wake Forest Demon Deacons, South Carolina Gamecocks, Clemson Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers, North Carolina Tar Heels, NC State Wolfpack, and Virginia Tech Hokies planned for the 2026 college football season.
His recruitment took off in June, with 15 Power Four programs extending him scholarships. While it is early, FSU and Clemson have been the schools pushing the hardest, according to Harden. Of the schools he is set to visit, Clemson is the only one that has not extended an offer.
Whiteside is ranked as the No. 738 overall player and No. 61 athlete in the 247Sports composite. The Ashville product is also the No. 19 player from North Carolina.
He spent his sophomore season at Fort Union Military Academy in Virginia before transferring to Asheville High School ahead of his junior season. He was limited to just five games, but did play on both sides of the ball at Fort Union, carrying the ball seven times for 83 yards and one touchdown and catching eight passes for 101 yards and two more touchdowns. He added 11 tackles on defense as a cornerback.
