FSU offensive line target commits to SEC program

The FSU Seminoles received some disappointing news on July 4th as offensive line target Mitchell Smith committed to the Vanderbilt Commodores over them on Friday.

Florida State has been recruiting Smith since November of 2024, when he visited Tallahassee to watch their game against the Florida Gators and left with a scholarship offer. He returned in December for another unofficial visit. He returned twice in 2025, attending a Junior Day in March and taking his official visit on June 6. Ultimately, it wasn’t enough to keep him away from Vanderbilt.

Smith is ranked as the No. 802 overall player and No. 68 offensive tackle in the 247Sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-6, 320-pounder was also considering the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Seminoles have three offensive linemen committed in Luke Francis, Mike Ionata, and Jakobe Green, but need more offensive tackles. Herb Hand does have them in the mix for Da’Ron Parks, a three-star prospect from Sarasota, Florida, who will be committing later in July.
