Florida State is working diligently to improve its 2026 recruiting class. They have three safeties committed in the cycle but have yet to snag a cornerback. Four-star prospect Jay Timmons could change that.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder is currently committed to the Indiana Hoosiers. He received an offer from FSU earlier this month after attending their Elite Camp, and he’ll be back on campus this weekend. Zach Blostein of Noles247 feels the great could lead to great results as he put in a crystal ball prediction for FSU to flip Timmons from Indiana on Thursday.
Timmons has extremely strong ties to Florida State. His father, Lawrence, played for the Seminoles from 2004-06. As a result, Timmons has always been fond of the Seminoles, and although he didn’t get an offer until recently, he was overjoyed when he received it.
“I can’t get a smile off my face right now. This is something I’ve been thinking about for 17 years. I cant wait to call my mom, she’s going to be crying. I can’t wait, it’s crazy,” Timmons told Noles247.
Timmons was very productive as a two-way player in 2024. He registered 42 tackles, four interceptions, 10 pass breakups, and three forced fumbles per MaxPreps. On offense, Timmons caught 40 passes for 755 yards and eight scores. This helped Pine-Richland High School win the WIPAL 5A title.
Getting Timmons would be huge for Florida State, and continue the recruiting surge they’ve had as of late.
