Sheffield started the year red-hot for the Seminoles before cooling off and falling out of the lineup. He appeared in 37 games with 26 starts, logging time at designated hitter, right field, second base, and left field. He ended the year hitting .250 with four home runs, nine doubles, 29 RBI, and 26 runs scored.

The righty had a .438 slugging percentage and a .331 on-base percentage. He drew 11 walks and struckout 32 times. He played in just eight games as a true freshman, going 2-8 with two RBI.

He is the son of MLB legend Gary Sheffield. He will have two seasons of eligibility at his next school.

Sheffield is the fourth FSU player to enter the transfer portal after the end of the 2026 season, and the third to do so on Tuesday. He joins infielder Kelvyn Paulino Jr., outfielder Chase Williams, and pitcher Manny Lantigua in the portal.
