After the Florida State Seminoles fell to their rival Florida Gators (who came into that game at 3-8) in an embarrassing 40-21 game, their overall record fell to 5-7, finishing below .500 for the fourth time under Mike Norvell’s tenure. Unsurprisingly, their rank in Paul Myerberg of USA TODAY Sports’ college football rerank, moved down significantly.
In last week’s poll, the Seminoles were ranked 78th of 136 teams. In his new re-rank of all 136 FBS teams in the country, Paul Myerberg moved Florida State down to No. 84, finishing in the bottom half of the country by a wide margin.
Surrounding the Seminoles are FBS newcomers No. 83 Missouri State and No. 85 West Virginia. It is so hard to believe that this team was once ranked in the top 10 just a few short months ago. That has come and gone, unfortunately. With their 5-7 record, it is impossible for them to get back into the top 50%, and likewise, a bowl game.
Florida also took the lead in terms of the compared ranking, with the Gators finishing No. 79 nationally.
The Seminoles will look to improve next season when they kick off their first game against Alabama, from Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
