Four-star cornerback explains why he committed to FSU

It is early, but Bryce Williams’ commitment in April gave the FSU Seminoles the No. 1 recruiting class in the 2027 cycle. He is one of four players who have already committed to the Seminoles ahead of their junior seasons of high school.

Williams was recently asked about why he committed to FSU so early in the process and he listed the numerous connections he has with the coaching staff.

“It’s the connections I have with the coaches,” he said. “Like for instance, coach Pat Surtain, DB coach, I’ve known him since I was a kid, and he coached my older brother at American Heritage. The DC [Tony White] there coached my cousin at Syracuse, assistant DB coach’s [Greg Moss] cousin played running back here at Western High School.

“So l have many ties at Florida State, that’s what made me commit there.”

Williams is from Miami, Florida and had a strong sophomore season for Western, making 28 tackles, one tackle for loss, three interceptions, and 14 pass breakups. The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder is looking to take another step as an upperclassman and continue to rise up the rankings.

He is the No. 256 overall player and No. 27 cornerback in the 247Sports composite rankings. He is also the No. 24 player from Florida.
