While the government shutdown has been resolved, flight delays and cancellations are happening as we enter the busiest days of the Thanksgiving travel days.
A coast-to-coast storm could bring rain and snow, causing flight delays across several areas this week, according to AccuWeather.

“AAA projects 81.8 million people will travel at least 50 miles from home over the Thanksgiving holiday period from Tuesday, Nov. 25 to Monday, Dec. 1.: Of those, 6.07 million are expected to fly, AAA said.
More than 400 delays and almost 200 cancellations have been reported early Nov. 24, affecting flights within, in or out of the U.S.
While AccuWeather predicts good travel weather in Florida, that doesn’t mean clear flying, especially if your flight is heading toward one of the trouble spots.

How to check TSA security, border wait times
The TSA and Customs and Border Protection provide information on wait times at airports and border crossings.
The TSA app allows travelers to check and post airport delays reported by travelers in real time.
Additionally, the CBP’s app has estimated wait times for border crossings between Canada and the U.S., between Mexico and the U.S., and other land borders.
Shortage of air traffic controllers continues
Controllers in many facilities were working mandatory overtime even before the shutdown due to longstanding FAA staffing shortages. The Department of Transportation, under multiple administrations, has struggled to attract sufficient numbers of recruits.
In March, the FAA was about 3,500 air traffic controllers short of targeted staffing levels and announced plans to hire 2,000 trainees in 2025.
